“Breathing may surprise” is a six-track release that features some truly engaging and restful ambient electronic soundscapes… pieces that vary in length from 5:23 through to 16:46… pieces that caress the mind with their delicate melodies and immersive structures.

Now restful isn’t usually a term I’d use for ambient music… especially for tracks that are as melody-rich as these and not solely drones… but it seems apt to me… because Lahey’s music does aid my relaxation… helping me to chill on a Sunday evening, for example.

“Breathing may surprise” is an album that needs to be explored… and to be experienced. I, for one, find it very rewarding indeed.

There are some lovely drifting atmospheres and thoughtful spoken word pieces.

I just found out that Star’s End played a track from a Free Floating release, Time by Jack Hertz.

This is a really big deal for me because Star’s End is where I fell in love with ambient music.

Saturday nights (actually Sunday morning’s from 1-6AM), would always be time to tune in to WXPN. My roommate and I would tune in after whatever college weekend party/event and just bliss out. Mind you, neither one of us drank or did drugs, so we were going for the purely natural musical high.

So it is really an honor that music that I helped to bring to the world (in some small way) has found its way back to what I consider the source.

I’m a happy man.
